1. ๐บ How Artifacts Work
Artifacts are rare hidden items that spawn inside rocks during mining sessions in Keep on Mining! - Worlds. When you destroy a rock that contains an artifact, the artifact materializes and is automatically collected. Unlike shop items which expire each session, artifacts are permanently unlocked and their passive bonuses apply across all future sessions and worlds.
Finding your very first artifact triggers the Artifact! Steam achievement, which has a 92% global unlock rate โ meaning the vast majority of players encounter their first artifact within their opening hour of play. The harder challenge is finding all 8 artifacts for the Artifact Collector achievement (22% of players).
Two artifacts are world-specific and can only be found in particular biomes: the Volcano Core appears exclusively in the Erupting Volcano, and the Pawn Magnet appears only in the Secret World. This means you must have unlocked and visited every world โ including the Secret World โ to complete the Artifact Collector achievement.

Mining Compass
Common ๐ AnyEffect: Permanently increases ore drop radius by 10%. Found in any world.
One of the earliest artifacts you will find in Keep on Mining Worlds. The passive ore radius increase stacks with the Ore Magnet shop item, ensuring you never miss a drop.
Ancient Lantern
Common ๐ Starting Mine / SaharaEffect: Reveals 1 random artifact location per session when activated.
The Ancient Lantern is incredibly useful for the Artifact Collector achievement. Its session-reveal ability effectively halves the RNG required to find rare artifacts.
Earthquake Crystal
Uncommon ๐ Frozen World / Street CornerEffect: Once per session, triggers a minor earthquake that cracks all rocks on screen by 25%.
The Earthquake Crystal is a powerful panic button in Keep on Mining Worlds. Save it for screens filled with chunk rocks (Street Corner) for maximum value.
Volcano Core
Rare ๐ Erupting VolcanoEffect: Permanently increases meteorite fall rate by 20% in all worlds with meteorite events.
The Volcano Core is exclusive to the Erupting Volcano. It amplifies the existing meteorite rain, effectively providing free passive AoE damage every few seconds.
Halo Crown
Rare ๐ Up in the AirEffect: Base halo spawn rate increased by 15% permanently across all worlds.
The Halo Crown is an endgame multiplier artifact. Combined with Halo Absorption talent cards and the Up in the Air world's natural bonus, this can generate +6x all-multiplier per session.
Secret World Map
Legendary ๐ Any (random rare spawn)Effect: Unlocks the Secret World permanently. The Secret World features a chessboard environment with Pawn AoE events and an 8x base XP multiplier.
The rarest artifact in Keep on Mining Worlds. No guaranteed trigger โ it can appear in any world at any time. Use the Artifact Magnet talent card and upgraded Artifact Spawn Chance skill tree nodes to maximize your chances.
Boom Witch Charm
Uncommon ๐ Boom Witch SwampEffect: Mushroom gas clouds in Boom Witch Swamp deal 10% more damage to rocks per tick.
A world-specific artifact that amplifies the passive mushroom gas ticks. In late-game Boom Witch Swamp sessions, the combined gas damage can account for 20-30% of total rock destruction.
Pawn Magnet
Rare ๐ Secret WorldEffect: In the Secret World, Pawns move 30% faster and deal 20% more AoE rock damage.
The Pawn Magnet is a Secret World exclusive artifact. Faster pawn movement means more frequent AoE events. Combined with Explosion Anomaly chains, it can clear entire rows of rocks instantly.
4. โ๏ธ Artifact Farming Strategy
Artifacts are entirely RNG-based but several mechanics meaningfully increase your discovery rate in Keep on Mining! - Worlds:
Skill Tree: Artifact Spawn Chance
Max this branch to Level 5 for a cumulative +25% spawn chance increase. This is the most impactful permanent investment for artifact hunting. At max level combined with other bonuses, roughly 1 in every 30-40 rocks contains an artifact.
Talent Card: Artifact Magnet
Increases artifact spawn chance by 50% for the session. Always pick this card if you are running a dedicated artifact hunt. Stacks multiplicatively with the skill tree bonus.
Artifact: Ancient Lantern
Once found, the Ancient Lantern reveals 1 artifact location per session. This effectively guarantees one discovery per session, dramatically reducing the grind for the remaining rare artifacts.
Shop Item: Rock Scanner (upgraded)
The upgraded Rock Scanner highlights rocks containing artifacts in gold before you break them. This allows you to prioritize high-value rocks and skip empty ones, increasing your effective discovery rate.
5. ๐ Secret World Map Hunt Strategy
The Secret World Map is the most coveted artifact in Keep on Mining! - Worlds. It permanently unlocks the Secret World โ an endgame chessboard biome with an 8x XP multiplier. Here is the most efficient strategy to find it:
- Max Artifact Spawn Chance (Level 5) in the skill tree first. This is a prerequisite โ at the base spawn rate, farming the Secret World Map without this upgrade can take many hours longer.
- Always draft Artifact Magnet talent card at every level-up during your hunt sessions. The combined +50% from the card and +25% from the skill tree nearly doubles your base discovery rate.
- Find the Ancient Lantern first. It spawns in Starting Mine and The Sahara with Common rarity. Once you have it, use its reveal ability every session during your hunt.
- Run sessions in any world โ the Secret World Map can drop anywhere. For efficiency, run it in the world where you clear rocks fastest (typically Up in the Air with Swift Pickaxe or Starting Mine with max Mining Speed).
- Upgrade Rock Scanner in the shop to the artifact-highlight tier. This lets you see if a Secret World Map is on screen before breaking the rock, preventing you from accidentally skipping it.
6. ๐๏ธ Artifact Collector Achievement
Artifact Collector (22% of players) requires finding all 8 artifacts. The two hardest to find are the Secret World Map (legendary, any world) and the Pawn Magnet (rare, Secret World only). The sequential unlock requirement means you must find the Secret World Map before you can even begin hunting the Pawn Magnet.
