1. ๐Ÿ”„ Understanding the Core Mining Loop

Keep on Mining! - Worlds is an incremental idle game built around a satisfying rock-breaking feedback loop. At its heart, the game asks a single question on repeat: how do you optimize your ore income? Understanding the answer to that question from minute one will save you hours of misallocated upgrades.

The loop works like this: you move your pickaxe cursor over rocks on screen. Rocks have HP values โ€” your pickaxe deals damage per swing based on your Mining Speed and Damage stats from the skill tree. When a rock's HP reaches zero, it shatters and drops ore. That ore is automatically collected and converted into bars via smelting. Bars are the primary currency for skill tree upgrades.

Alongside bars, rocks occasionally drop gems. Gems are a secondary currency used in the shop to purchase session-based power-ups like the all-important 3 Mines auto-mining system. Occasionally a rare artifact emerges from a shattered rock โ€” these permanently upgrade your character in unique ways and are key to unlocking the hidden Secret World.

Every time your total XP threshold is reached, you level up. Leveling up presents a talent card draft: 5 cards appear, you choose 2. These cards provide session-modifying buffs. When you accumulate enough talent points (earned through leveling), you can spend them in the World menu to unlock new biomes โ€” each with distinct environmental mechanics that redefine your strategy. There are 8 worlds total in Keep on Mining! - Worlds.

2. โ›๏ธ Your First 10 Minutes in Keep on Mining Worlds

When you first launch Keep on Mining! - Worlds, you begin in the Starting Mine โ€” a classic underground cavern filled with granite and slate rocks. Here is exactly what to do in your opening session:

  1. Mine everything on screen. Move your cursor aggressively over every rock. Do not worry about optimization yet โ€” just generate bars as fast as possible. Your first 50 bars should arrive within 2-3 minutes of active play.
  2. Open the Skill Tree immediately. Spend your first bars on Ore Value Level 1 (costs 50 bars). Do not spend bars on anything else until Ore Value is maxed to at least Level 3 (requires 800 bars total across the branch).
  3. Watch for your first artifact. Artifacts have a ~92% spawn chance within the first session (based on global achievement data). The first artifact you find will likely be the Mining Compass, which permanently increases ore drop radius by 10%.
  4. Collect gems. Gems fall from rocks randomly. You need approximately 50-100 gems to buy the 3 Mines from the shop. Do not spend gems on anything else first.
  5. Buy the 3 Mines. The moment you have enough gems, open the shop and purchase the 3 Mines. This is the most impactful early decision in Keep on Mining Worlds. It enables passive ore income even when you are not actively swinging your pickaxe.

3. ๐Ÿค– Setting Up Auto Mining

The 3 Mines shop item is the gateway to idle progression in Keep on Mining! - Worlds. Once purchased, three passive mining units activate and continuously collect ore in the background โ€” even when your cursor is idle. This also unlocks the Auto Mining Steam achievement (88.5% of players have this, making it one of the earliest unlocks in the game).

After buying the 3 Mines, your next priority is to upgrade them. Each gem upgrade to the 3 Mines increases their output by 15%. Additionally, the Mine Output branch in the skill tree stacks multiplicatively with this โ€” a fully upgraded Mine Output node at Level 5 provides +50% output on top of shop upgrades.

For AFK and overnight play, equip the Lunara pickaxe once you can craft it (Tier 3). Its equip bonus increases passive mine speed by an additional 10%. The Lunara + maxed Mine Output + upgraded 3 Mines stack is the best idle setup in Keep on Mining! - Worlds and forms the backbone of the Bar Baron achievement grind.

4. ๐ŸŒฟ Early Skill Tree Priorities

The Keep on Mining Worlds skill tree has 200+ upgrade nodes across multiple branches. New players often spread bars across too many branches simultaneously, which delays the exponential compounding that makes the game accelerate dramatically. Follow this priority order:

Priority Branch Why Max Level Cost
1st๐Ÿ’ฐ Ore ValueCompounds with every other multiplier12,000 bars
2ndโšก Mining SpeedMore swings = more ore per minute20,000 bars
3rd๐Ÿ’ฅ Explosion AnomalyAoE clears critical for dense worlds50,000 bars
4th๐Ÿ’Ž Gem ValueFaster shop purchases and upgrades30,000 bars
5th๐Ÿค– Mine OutputAFK income multiplier35,000 bars
6th๐Ÿบ Artifact SpawnRequired for Artifact Collector + Secret World90,000 bars

Do not invest in late-game branches like Artifact Spawn or Halo Multiplier until your active mining build (branches 1-3) is fully established. See the complete Skill Tree guide for all 200+ nodes with costs and effects.

5. ๐Ÿ”จ Crafting Your First Pickaxe (Dynamo)

Your first pickaxe upgrade from the Starter Pickaxe is the Dynamo (Tier 2). It requires Desert Amber โ€” a resource that drops specifically from rocks in The Sahara world. This means your first pickaxe upgrade naturally coincides with unlocking World 2.

The Dynamo's equip bonus is exceptional for its tier: a 2.22x ore value multiplier. This effectively more than doubles your income instantly upon equipping it. Combined with your Level 3-4 Ore Value skill tree investment, the multiplicative stacking at this stage causes a notable exponential acceleration โ€” this is the moment Keep on Mining! - Worlds truly starts to feel like a proper incremental game.

After the Dynamo, plan ahead for the Moonwound Steel (Tier 4) which doubles all gem income โ€” a crucial upgrade before entering the Erupting Volcano. Full crafting requirements and a tier list are in the Pickaxes guide.

6. ๐Ÿƒ Talent Cards: What to Pick as a Beginner

Every time you level up in Keep on Mining! - Worlds, you are presented with 5 talent cards and must choose 2. These persist for the rest of that session and can be upgraded further by leveling up again. Making good card choices early dramatically changes your session efficiency.

As a beginner, prioritize in this order:

๐Ÿ“ˆ
S Pick Steady Gains

The per-second ore multiplier compounds over long sessions. Always pick this first when offered.

๐Ÿ’ฅ
S Pick Giga Explosion

Increases AoE explosion radius 40%. Synergizes with Explosion Anomaly upgrades you should already have.

๐Ÿ˜‡
A Pick Halo Absorption

Doubles halo multiplier value. Essential once you reach Up in the Air.

โšก
B Pick Swift Pickaxe

Good speed boost but purely additive. Pick it only if S/A cards are not on offer.

๐Ÿงฒ
Skip Artifact Magnet

Only relevant when specifically hunting artifacts. Skip in normal progression runs.

See the full Talent Cards guide for per-world ratings and advanced draft strategies.

7. ๐Ÿœ๏ธ When to Unlock World 2: The Sahara

Unlock The Sahara when your Starting Mine sessions feel routine and your Ore Value branch is at Level 3+. The Sahara introduces two new mechanics: sand rocks with 10% lower max HP (faster to break), and increased gem spawn rates โ€” both excellent for mid-game momentum.

More importantly, The Sahara drops Desert Amber, which is required to craft the Dynamo pickaxe. This is the primary reason to unlock World 2 as early as your talent points allow. The exponential gear jump from Starter to Dynamo pickaxe justifies spending talent points aggressively on World 2 unlock.

Do not unlock World 3: The Frozen World immediately after The Sahara. First craft the Dynamo, invest 2-3 more levels into Ore Value, and upgrade the 3 Mines at least once in the shop. Frozen World has 20% harder rocks and requires an established build to clear efficiently. Check the All Worlds guide for full unlock timing recommendations.

8. ๐Ÿ’ฅ Understanding Anomalies & Halos

Anomalies are random special events that trigger spontaneously during mining sessions in Keep on Mining! - Worlds. The two most important types are:

๐Ÿ’ฅ Explosion Anomaly

A bomb detonates dealing AoE damage to all rocks within the explosion radius. The radius and frequency are upgradeable in the skill tree. With the Giga Explosion talent card, max-radius explosions can clear most of the screen simultaneously. Triggers the Boom! Steam achievement on first occurrence.

๐Ÿ”ฆ A-Beam Anomaly

A beam fires across the screen, converting all chunk rocks it touches into full material rocks. Since full material rocks drop significantly more ore, A-Beam anomalies are among the highest-value random events. The A-Beam Amplify talent card makes this S-tier in the Volcano.

Halos are floating ring objects that drift across the screen. Move your cursor over a halo to absorb it. Each absorbed halo grants +0.25x to your all-multiplier for the rest of that session (doubled to +0.5x with the Halo Absorption talent card). In Up in the Air, halo spawn rate is increased 50%, making halo stacking the primary damage-per-session optimization in that world.

Both anomalies and halos become significantly more impactful once you reach mid-game worlds. For now, simply upgrade Explosion Anomaly frequency in the skill tree and absorb every halo you see.
